Meet Jill Rumbley-Beam

Speaker & Author

Jill is a native Texan who grew up in Oak Cliff and attended DW Carter High School. After graduating high school, Jill attended Dallas Baptist College, majoring in Physical Education and Recreation.  Jill also has a degree in Gerontology from the University of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  

Jill's journey in public service began in 1972 when she joined the City of Dallas.  Over the course of 28 years, she held various roles, culminating in her retirement as the Athletic and Reservations Manager in 2015.   Her dedication to the city was evident in her role as the City Manager's Customer Service Trainer, where she imparted the importance of customer service to over 13,000 employees.  Her commitment was recognized with numerous awards, including the Director's Trophy, Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Customer Service Award.

Her passion for public speaking is evident in her membership in several professional organizations, including the Texas Recreation and Park Society, the National Recreation and Park Association, the Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute, and the American Association of American Women.  Her enthusiasm for sharing her knowledge has led her to present at numerous national conferences.  In 2016, her dedication was recognized when she was named the Recreation Professional of the Year statewide.  Her influence in the Park and Recreation Profession is widely acknowledged.

Jill continues speaking publicly for book clubs, Lion's Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Women's, and church organizations. 

She rewired herself and worked as the programmer of senior services for the City of Rowlett and the City of Lewisville. She also was the Wellness Director at CC Young Senior Living Facility.

Her talents extend beyond her professional roles. Jill also shared her love for the arts as a teacher for the DISD, where she taught tap and jazz dance at the Elementary Arts Magnet School, Sidney Lanier. 

Jill is a certified Jazzercise Instructor and has been instructing classes since 1980.  She was the trainer for Jazzercise 1997 through 2008, where she not only led classes but also trained and mentored other instructors, demonstrating her deep commitment to promoting fitness and healthy living.  

A dancer at heart, Jill taps weekly with Class Act Tap Company.  They are well known for taping all over the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Jill is also a member of a singing group called Noteworthy.   Noteworthy consists of nine ladies participating in the Ms. Texas Senior America Pageant.   

Jill enjoys playing her flute and entertaining.   She resides in Forney, TX, and is married to Ken Beam. They have two children and four grandchildren.

Jill has performed in the Spectacular Senior Follies for the past ten years, where she was in the dance ensemble and a Follies Show Girl.  Jill is Ms. Texas Senior America, 2015-2016.  Jill was the director of the Ms. Texas Senior America Pageant from 2012-2014.  She couldn't wait until she turned 60 years old so she could compete.  She went to Atlantic City, New Jersey, to compete in Ms. Senior America, where she made it to the top 10.  Jill also won the title of  Ms. Senior USA in 2016 and competed for the title of Ms. Senior USA. She made it into the top 10 and won the title of Ms. Congeniality.   

Jill enjoys performing, and her philosophy of life is…" Life has no remote, so get up and change it!"
